Shakira has been confirmed as the headliner of Rio de Janeiro’s 2026 free mega concert at Copacabana Beach, scheduled for May 2. The announcement was made by Rio’s mayor, Eduardo Paes, who shared a video of the Colombian star on social media with the caption “Confirmed.”
The show is part of the now-annual public event Todo Mundo no Rio, a large-scale, free beachfront concert that has rapidly become one of the biggest live music gatherings in the world.
A Concert Series That Draws Millions
Copacabana Beach has recently hosted some of the most attended concerts in modern history. In 2024, Madonna gathered an estimated 1.6 million people along Rio’s shoreline. In 2025, Lady Gaga reportedly drew around 2.1 million fans, setting a new benchmark.
With Shakira now leading the 2026 edition, expectations are once again sky-high. The open-air setting — framed by Rio’s dramatic mountains and Atlantic coastline — has helped position the city as a global stage for free mega concerts.
Part of the “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour”

The Copacabana performance aligns with Shakira’s ongoing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. Interestingly, the tour began in Rio exactly one year earlier, on February 11, 2025, with a stadium performance at the city’s Nilton Santos Stadium.
In early 2026, the artist is set to perform in Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia before returning to Brazil for the beach concert.
Latin Pop Power on the World’s Biggest Stage
At 49, the “Whenever, Wherever” global hitmaker continues to command international audiences across continents. Her upcoming Copacabana appearance reinforces Brazil’s growing reputation for hosting record-breaking public concerts that blend global pop culture with Rio’s unmistakable beach energy.
Rumors had circulated that other international stars could headline this year’s event, but Rio ultimately secured one of Latin music’s most enduring global icons.
On May 2, Copacabana Beach is once again expected to become the world’s largest open-air concert venue — and all eyes will be on Rio.
