Brazil’s Documentary ‘Me’ Reveals a Personal Journey of Overcoming Mental Obstacles

ME (EU in Portuguese) is a deeply personal journey of self-discovery and overcoming mental obstacles. The film follows Ludmila Dayer’s journey, Brazil’s well-known actress, as she grapples with her mental health and confronts a chronic illness diagnosis. Through her own experiences and interviews with experts including doctors, shamans,  neuroscientists, and psychoanalysts, Ludmila shares the tools and insights that helped her heal. 

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that approximately 1  in 4 people (or 25% of the global population) will experience a mental health condition at some point in their lives, making ME a captivating and powerful must-see for all. 

“After having my life limited by frequent panic attacks and the diagnosis of a chronic illness, I found myself questioning not only my mental and physical health but also the essence of life itself,” said Dayer. “Considering this, I decided to embark on a  profound journey of self-discovery, aiming to uncover my true self and find healing for my psychological and physical traumas. During my journey, I discovered valuable teachings  and tools that profoundly transformed my life forever.” 

What makes ME even more unique is the involvement of Brazil’s star Anittawho served as an associate producer. Anittaknown for her remarkable talent and influential presence in the entertainment industry, felt a deep connection with Ludmila’s healing journey. She was moved by the authentic and beautiful portrayal of Ludmila’s story and her inspiring path to self-discovery. Anitta’s decision to join the project reflects her commitment to supporting transformative stories that resonate and help audiences worldwide. 

“Venturing into the realm of cinema with this transformative documentary brings me great joy,” says Anitta. Ludmila’s healing journey resonated deeply with me, and I am honored to be a part of this project. ME is a testament to the power of self-discovery and  overcoming obstacles, and I believe it will inspire and uplift countless individuals.” 

The Los Angeles premiere of ME will take place on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at AMC Pacific Theaters at The Grove, 189 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles, California 90036 at 6:00 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the film at the first screening scheduled followed by a Q&A with director Ludmila Dayer. Due to overwhelming demand, a second screening has been added at 9:00 pm.
