Brazilian model Maria Klaumann was named Breakthrough Model of the Year at the 11th Fashion Media Awards, held on September 6th. The prestigious event, sponsored by The Daily Front Row, brought together top names in the fashion industry, including celebrities such as Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, and Kate Moss. The award was presented by renowned model Stella Maxwell.

The 22-year-old from Santa Catarina broke a 15-year hiatus during which no Brazilian model had won an international award. Born in Aurora, a municipality in Santa Catarina, Klaumann has rapidly risen in the fashion world. She appeared on the cover of Vogue Brasil in April this year and made her debut in Vogue Portugal the following month. Maria also graced the covers of V Magazine, L’Officiel Arabia, Harper’s Bazaar Brazil and Thailand, Carlota, and The Perfect Magazine, a publication of The New York Times.

Throughout her career, she has worked with major brands such as Michael Kors and Replay Jeans. She also hosted the program “The New Generation of Brazilian Fashion” on Vogue Brasil’s YouTube channel. Represented by The Lions Talent Management in New York, Mega Model Brasil, and Women Management in Milan, Klaumann’s rise has been swift and impressive.

Brazil has long been known for producing top models, and Klaumann’s recognition adds to this legacy. Icons like Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Izabel Goulart, Isabeli Fontana, Ana Beatriz Barros, Raquel Zimmermann, and Caroline Trentini have cemented Brazil’s place in the fashion world, consistently standing out on global runways and magazine covers. Maria Klaumann now joins this prestigious list, with a promising career ahead.

As a journalist, I am dedicated to uncovering stories that inspire, inform, and captivate. My work has appeared in renowned publications such as InStyle, Marie Claire, Bazaar, L’Officiel, and Vogue. Though I have lived in the U.S. since 2010—calling Chicago, Los Angeles, and now Miami home—my heart remains deeply connected to Brazil, where I was born and raised. This enduring love for its culture and energy led me to create Brazilcore, a platform designed to connect Brazil with English-speaking audiences around the globe.
