Air France Expands Brazil Network To Five Cities with New Route to Salvador

Air France is set to enhance its network during the winter 2024-25 season by adding Salvador in northeastern Brazil as one of three new destinations. The carrier will operate flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Salvador–Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport (SSA) thrice weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays starting October 28. These flights will utilize Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

Salvador, the vibrant capital of Bahia, is renowned for its Portuguese colonial architecture, rich Afro-Brazilian cultural heritage, and beautiful leisure resorts. Home to 2.9 million people, it is Brazil's third-largest city and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This new route increases Air France’s Brazilian destinations to five, adding to its current services to Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, and Belem.

In addition, Air France's winter schedule will see increased service to Fortaleza, rising to five times weekly, contributing to a total of up to 30 weekly flights between Paris and Brazil. The airline's codeshare agreement with Brazilian carrier GOL allows passengers to connect to 40 additional domestic destinations within Brazil.

Paris will become the third European city to offer nonstop flights from Salvador, joining Lisbon and Madrid. According to Sabre Market Intelligence, Paris was the second-largest European destination for Salvador's outbound and inbound traffic in 2023, with nearly 25,000 passengers.
